For the second year in a row, Yarlington has been shortlisted for a national award.

In the category 'Business Transformation of the Year' the Yeovil-based housing provider demonstrated that, although it has already made great steps to achieve its full potential, it is a never-ending journey taking them from Good to Beyond.

On that journey, they have moved focus from bricks and mortar to truly Building Communities and are working to realise the potential that exists behind each front door.

Their three-year strategy is now embedded in everyday working, driven from the top – with full support and engagement from the board. In addition staff and stakeholders are intrinsically involved in setting the on-going direction of the organisation.

Residents joined the strategic focus groups – working with staff and the board to enhance services and influence decisions that are made.

As well as gaining recognition and accreditation with Investors in People at Gold Standard, the organisation has already been recognised with other awards including the Chartered Institute of Housing's Most Improved Service; Older Persons Service Award, Environmental Awards and were second overall in the Chamber of Commerce's  2011 Business of the Year.

CIH chief executive Grainia Long said: "The UK Housing Awards are about celebrating the dedication and commitment of organisations and professionals across the industry.

"They not only recognise success, they also give housing providers the opportunity to learn from each other's excellent work and innovation. For CIH, they help us to fulfil our role in maintaining, improving and promoting standards in an increasingly challenging environment.

"The quality of the entries we've received this year is evident from the fantastic standard of the finalists, and I'd like to congratulate all the organisations that have been shortlisted. Their work can inspire us all."

Yarlington Chief Executive Gary Orr added "We have achieved great things, but this transformation continues. It is truly our never-ending journey."
