Hi folks, I just had to pop in and say thank you to all those who voted for me in the elections on 5th May. I have been re-elected to serve for another 4 years on the Town Council. I am at the moment comming to the end of my first term as Mayor of Yeovil and I am hopeful that my fellow councilors will nominate me to continue my term of office for a second year. It is such an honour to be asked to represent our town in this way. Linda the Mayoress and I have had a most exceptional year with many aniversary events to attend. We have also had the oppertunity to meet with a lot of local charity organisations and volunteers. Our town has such a wealth of wonderful people that put others first. It also has a huge wealth of young talent, Cast aways, motiv8, Yeovil youth theatre, just to name a couple but there is a long list of drama groups, dance schools, gymnastic groups etc. Not to mention an ever growing list of young solo singers and bands. As Mayor and Mayoress we have had the pleasure of being entertained by most of them. I praise them all, not only for their talents but they are all very willing to perform free of charge in order to raise much needed funds for local charities. Between them raising many thousands of pounds. As the Mayor I hang up my politics as I represent everyone in Yeovil as a whole, and seeing as I am more interested in what happens here on our local streets than I am in national politics I dont find that to hard. Town Council meetings are all public events and anyone is welcome to attend and I would encourage it. More can be done when the public use there voices in the right place instead of just moaning over the garden fence. Come and tell us what your opinions are, have your say before something is done, Its far better than comming to moan about it when its been done. I am looking forward to the next 4 years and welcome all the new members to the Town Council.
