Traffic regularly queues down Queensway to the Police Station roundabout waiting to turn right onto Lysander Rd or do a 180 back up Queensway. This often causes a tailback up to and past the Tesco exit slip road meaning that traffic exiting the supermarket has to dart across at sharp angles to join the right turn queue which is dangerous. If this is not possible then vehicles use the centre lane to turn right onto Lysander Rd and running the risk of cutting up or colliding with traffic using the appropriate lane.
Why not make the centre lane a combined straight on and right turn lane, and the right lane a combined right turn and 180 lane? This would reduce the traffic queues as most traffic does appear to want to use the right-hand lane at present.
Obviously traffic exiting the roundabout onto Lysander Rd would need to be kept segregated into their respective lanes for the first 50 metres or so to prevent side-swiping lane changing but this can be achieved easily.
This would be a relatively cheap and easy fix to a very annoying and dangerous problem.
