In June I posed the question what happened to the Orange Box in Tabernacle Lane, which had closed down at short notice. Apparently the ill health of the owner was the cause.

Today I heard that the venue is due to open in the next couple of weeks under new management, but again details on this are sketchy. There's no new website and I can't find out anything to indicate this is true. Nevertheless I heard that there will be a stand-up comedy evening at the end of this month (either the Saturday or Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend), and it has been rumoured that one or more comedians who feature on Mock the Week may be in attendance. I assume this is just a rumour but if anyone knows better I'd appreciate someone posting about it as it will be fantastic if the place is reopening and also a comedy evening there could be brilliant!

I hear it is to be called 'Tabernacle Junction' - I think they may even have a twitter account. Just had a look and found this site http://tinyurl.com/3dudqjl Seems like the Orange Box has been reborn!

Brilliant! You're the man Darth - and looks like it's true re. the comedy too. Thanks for the reply. Yeovilpeople is definitely a useful place to visit for helpful replies!

No worries - loving the name Cydertron! Just picked up the Western Gazette, p.5 has a bit about Tabernacle Junction actually - it is a local businessman who has taken over (Steve Hodgson) and yeah he's looking to branch out a bit, keeping the emphasis on young, local bands but also getting a few comedy nights going, as well as 'themed entertainment' (not entirely sure what that means). The Tabernacle Junction re-opens on August 28 with some big comedy names coming down to Yeovil, look up Ian Stone to find out about the up and coming comic who will be at the opening. If we as locals support the place hopefully it will be around for a long time to come, and we all know Yeovil needs this kind of alternative venue. Rock on!

I think I'll go along to the comedy night. It'll be good to see what's happened to the place!

Tabernacle Junction are also holding Zumba classes on a Monday and Tuesday evening 19:00-20:00 on both evenings. £5 entry for the hour, with light refreshments. Spread the word to any Zumba loving people! x

Hi all, I have just seen this post for the first time. Steve Hodgson here and I would like to add a few words here regarding Tabernacle Junction. For those of you that have been along I do hope you like the place and the shows we are putting on. For those of you yet to have an evening out at TJ's, please do come and say hello and tell us what you want to see on stage. The comedy has been fantastic, and we have had some of the countries finest stand up comedians on stage. We have also had some great local bands as well as some wonderful touring talent. we are working hard to provide what Yeovil wants and sincerely hope we are doing the right thing, I know we are getting fantastic reviews and all our regulars love us, but we are always looking to improve. Cheers all for the support.
