Greens celebrate after town council success

The Green Party is celebrating after five candidates were elected to town councils in Somerset.

Martin Bailey has been elected as the first-ever Green on Yeovil Town Council and is now the only non-Liberal Democrat among the 24 town councillors.

Four Greens have joined the town council in Glastonbury.

Local party spokesman Ben Hartshorn said: “Across the South West, Greens have increased their vote, with gains in Bristol and South Hams.”
