Paperwork could be all that stands in the way of Yeovil Town completing loan extensions for Ryan Dickson and Joe Edwards.
Southampton left-footer Dickson potentially played his final game for the Glovers at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday, while Bristol City full- back Edwards is believed to have just days left on his deal.
Manager Gary Johnson revealed last week that he was keen to keep hold of the pair and assistant Terry Skiverton – who signed Dickson three days before Johnson's return – confirmed talks had started.
"The manager is in dialogue and, hopefully, he will be sorting stuff out in the next day or two," said Skiverton.
"I think conversations have gone on, it is just fingers crossed and getting the paperwork done on them."
Skiverton also revealed that Yeovil stole defender Richard Hinds from under the noses of League One rivals Tranmere Rovers.
The former Wednesday man made his Glovers debut on Saturday at the club he left in the summer, as the visitors went down 2-1.
Hinds impressed former centre-half Skiverton alongside Bondz N'Gala, battling on despite dislodging teeth in the first five minutes.
Skiverton said: "He did well in training the other day and he has earned himself a short-term contract.
"The Sheffield Wednesday fans know a lot about him and I think he was player of the year here before.
"I thought that him and Bondz really stood up to the test and it shows how well they have done when they take off their two strikers.
"He is an experienced player, he is 31 and he has had some good time recently at Lincoln City. He has been training with Tranmere, but I do not think they quite had the finances to do anything with him.
"Great play from the gaffer (Johnson) by sneaking in and getting him at such short notice. For him to come up to his boyhood club is testament to his professionalism."
