The station has not had any significant upgrades in nearly 40 years and the force have been making plans and gathering funds for this renovation since 2004.
The build took only seven months and has seen the front office transformed into a modern and welcoming hub designed to put people at ease in what might be distressing situations.
Chief Superintendent Nikki Watson declared the offices officially open yesterday.
She said: "The plan all along was to make this office more welcoming to the people who come in to report crimes.
"When people come to a police station it is often quite a distressing time and we need to ensure that the environment we provide for them is as calming as possible.
"The old office was so dark and dingy and the new space is so light and friendly, it's really fantastic.
"It has taken quite a while to get this project finished, when I first came to Yeovil - quite a few years ago now I was told that the project would soon be on its feet."
The light and airy space includes state of the art interview rooms, improved disability access and a brand new completely secure area for detainees.
The design is extremely modern with green and silver designs throughout the building and large pictures of your friendly Yeovil constables across the walls.
Chief Constable Colin Port said that members of the team were imperative when making decisions about the design and features of the new office space:
"I always say that if you want something done properly, you should ask the people who are actually going to be using it," he said.
"The build has been focused on putting the public at ease as well as making sure our staff have a suitable and up-to-date environment to work in."
This renovation project is part of the final stages of a refurbishment project to renovate the whole building.
