Friends of Yeovil Hospital have raised a whopping £1,247 for the Special Care Baby Unit at Yeovil Women's Hospital.
Quiz winners, the ‘Shaken not Stirred’ Hospital team with the Chris Parker Cup
In total, the Friends of Yeovil Hospital have now raised £144,515 for services and equipment at Yeovil Hospital.
The Flying Colours Appeal, raising funds for the Special Care Baby Unit, needs £2.4 million to refurbish, enhance and modernise the current unit.
The charitable group raised the £1,247 at the annual Chris Parker Quiz, held at Yeovil College and more teams than ever before wanted to compete.
Over 30 teams from Yeovil Hospital alone competed in the quiz.
They did not disappoint as the winners were the 'Shaken not Stirred' Hospital team with Gastroenterologist, Steve Gore, his wife Lesley and Julian and Helen Hart.
The group were presented with the Chris Parker cup which they can keep their hands on until next year's quiz.
Chairman of The Friends, Anne Bennett, said: "The Friends enjoy their fundraising activities and we take our responsibilities very seriously.
"Local people are increasingly interested in how their donations are spent and seem to feel The Friends do a good job. Since September 2011,
Neil Tomlin, Associate Director of Nursing and Midwifery said: "I would like to say a big thank you to everyone involved in the pub quiz.
"The money raised will help support the smallest and most vulnerable members of our community and I know that the parents along with our staff really appreciate everyone's support in helping us to improve the facilities at our local hospital."
The Friends' Hospital Shop and trolley service are currently recruiting volunteers, the profits from which are donated to the hospital for equipment and other amenities.
