Gary Johnson: 'It feels like I've come home'
Johnson was officially announced as the new Glovers manager at a Huish Park press conference this afternoon, where it was confirmed that former boss Terry Skiverton would remain at the club as his assistant.
Johnson, who left Yeovil to take over at Bristol City back in 2005, said working alongside Skiverton was one of the main factors behind his decision to return.
"The club wants to push on, and it was important for me that, if I did decide to come back, then I had to get staff with me that I could trust," said Johnson.
"Terry and I spoke for six hours yesterday about the future and how we could work it, and we were both very happy after it that we could with each other and get the club moving.
"Terry and I go back a long way. I was his gaffer and he was my captain. All the success we had at Yeovil, we had together.
"Terry has lots of contacts, and he's been in the game long enough that he's well respected.
"So, if we pool both our contacts and work together, it will be double the bubble."
Johnson took Yeovil from the Conference to League One during his first four-year spell in charge.
After taking over at Bristol City, he took them to the Championship and within 90 minutes of the Premier League, but lost the 2008 play-off final against Hull City at Wembley Stadium.
Johnson has since had brief spells in charge of Peterborough United and Northampton Town, but is now back at Huish Park.
He and Skiverton took a training session together this morning as they work towards tomorrow night's league game at Sheffield United.
"It feels like coming home," added Johnson. "I've met some supporters outside already and it's like coming home - I've got lots of friends here.
"I've been saying it's like that film Cocoon... nobody has got any older. Six years on, and everybody looks the same."

Didn't Johnson say he'd taken Yeovil as far as they could go when he left last time? Where are they now? Same division as when he left. You do the math... only one way to go now!!
