The race organised by Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust during one of their summer football coaching sessions saw Yeovil Town's Jolly Green Giant take on Yarlington Housing Group's mascot 'Pip' and the Airfield Tavern 'Bunny'.
The first heat saw a closely contested encounter with 'Pip' prevailing despite a tumble half way through the race with the Airfield Tavern taking second place setting up a winner takes all final.
The atmosphere increased during the final with the young footballers supporting their favourite mascot. The race again was won by 'Pip' despite the best efforts of the Airfield Tavern 'Bunny'.
Roy O'Brien from Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust said 'My colleague Sara Bradley came up with the idea and it was fantastic to see all the kids cheering on their mascot. A massive thank you to all the mascots for taking part and hopefully next year we can get some more to participate. We just need to get the Jolly Green Giant to another level of fitness for him to compete against Pip and Bunny next year.'
