Matthew Rock, a 36 year-old musician and father from Yeovil is planning an ambitious one-night 'gigathon,' playing at 26 venues in just one night.
Matthew Rock will entertain audiences across Yeovil as he plays twenty six venues in one night.
Look out for gigathon posters in local pubs and clubs or visit the website for more details, and for how to donate.
Playing a ten-minute set in each venue, technical teams will be one step ahead at all times making sure every establishment is ready to rock when Matthew breezes in. The gigathon starts at 5pm at The Halfway House and finishes off in grand style at the Ex-Services and Social Club, hopefully on schedule for 11.15pm.
Matthew's eight-year-old son James was rushed from Yeovil District Hospital to Bristol Children's Hospital in October to undergo emergency bowel surgery after being diagnosed with a lifelong inflammatory disease, thought to be Ulcerative Colitis or Crohn's Disease.
Speaking to the Western Gazette, Mr Rock said: "When I was told that James had the life-long disease, it felt like I'd been hit by a bus.
"I will never forget the moment when they said in Yeovil Hospital it was some sort of inflammatory bowel disease, I could have fallen off my chair. It beggars belief what could have happened if the nurses at Bristol had not acted so quickly.
"I take confidence that his condition is being closely monitored and it is not going to be that bad ever again."
The life saving treatment James received at the hands of staff at Bristol Children's Hospital inspired Matthew to give something back, giving rise to the idea of a mammoth gigathon set to take place on Saturday 19th May.
Matthew is hoping that as many people as possible come forward to sponsor the one-night gigathon by printing out and filling in the sponsor form available here, or by kind donations by text message and through his justgiving site.
More information on the gigathon can be found on Matthew Rock's website.
Best of luck from everyone at yeovilpeople.co.uk!
