Heavy snow and severe weather forecast for Yeovil this Friday

Heavy snow is expected in Yeovil tomorrow (18 January) following a severe weather warning from the Met Office.

Strong winds and heavy snow are expected to hit Yeovil from 3am until 12pm tomorrow. Snowfall will get lighter after 12pm and is expected to cease at 3pm.
The minimum temperature expected in the area is -3 °C, the maximum, 2 °C.
A severe amber weather warning has been issued by the Met Office who predict 10-15cm of snow in Yeovil and a risk of over 25cm in higher ground.
Although the snow is expected to have ceased by Saturday morning, the Met Office warn that roads are expected to be icy and drivers should be careful throughout the course of the weekend.
A Met Office spokesman said: "Clearly there is the potential for severe disruption and the public are advised to watch for updates to this warning and be prepared to alter travel plans.
"Winds will strengthen and blizzard conditions are a possibility, especially over high ground.
"The public should be aware of the risk of significant travel disruption affecting the west in the morning and the east in the afternoon."
