Figures released by Action for Children reveal that over two-thirds of managers at their 500 children's projects are seeing children who are not having regular meals. The charity is concerned that this may be on the rise as eight out of ten of its projects are reporting seeing more families struggling to make ends meet.
In South Somerset the charitable trust, The Lord's Larder, was set up to help families in this situation. Throughout November and December, Retirement Living residents from Yarlington Housing Group have been helping to spread some Christmas spirit by collecting and generously donating food items for the charity.
The items will be made into emergency food parcels at The Lord's Larder before being delivered to families in crisis across South Somerset this Christmas.
