Police are attempting to trace an escaped prisoner who they believe may be in the Somerset area.

John Loveridge , aged 28, absconded from HMP North Sea Camp in Lincolnshire on Monday February 11.

He was jailed in 2011 for offences including burglary and theft.

Loveridge is described as white, around 5ft 8 to 5ft 9 inches tall, of a slim build, with short black hair and hazel coloured eyes.

He has a 4 inch scar on back of left hand, a tattoo stating 'Stacey' on his right arm. It is possible that he may have a beard or be clean shaven.

A police spokesman said: "It is believed that Loveridge may be in the Somerset area and members of the public are asked to remain vigilant.

"Anyone who sees John Loveridge or knows where he may be is asked to call 999 immediately. "
