Princes Street, Yeovil
The road-works are commencing on October 1 in order to improve the northern end of the street following the completion of 'enhancement works' to the southern end in 2009/10.
Plans include reconnecting the subway end of Princes Street with the southern end of the street and creating pedestrian access between the town centre, the college and the hospital.
The works are being carried out in phases to ensure that pedestrian and driver access is maintained during the construction.
However a short-term road closure will take place at some point in November.
The works are funded by South Somerset District Council Area South Committee, Yeovil Vision Board, Yeovil Town Council and Somerset County Council.
The council are hoping these works will "enhance the character" of the Street.
South Somerset District Councillor and Portfolio Holder for Yeovil vision,Tony Fife, said: "During the planned work, we wish to minimise disruption to shoppers and also traders.
"The northern part of the street will be bought up to the same standard as the southern end and it is hoped the work will be completed in time for Christmas shoppers to enjoy it."
