The local life-saving charity has taken advantage of The Silver Bond scheme, which allows charities to purchase one running place in the famous Virgin London Marathon marathon, once every five years.
Now the charity is on the hunt for a 'marathon' fundraiser and ambassador to support their cause.
There is only a short time left to register your interest however, as applicants must contact the charity by Monday 28 January.
The life-saving charity which receives no direct Government or National Lottery funding and relies on the public for support, has ONE Silver Bond ticket for the 2013 Virgin London Marathon which takes place on 21st April.
The Silver Bond scheme was introduced five years ago and offers 1,250 charities the chance to purchase one running place, once every five years.
With only a short time left to register their applicant's name, the Charity is on the hunt for a 'marathon' fundraiser or ambassador to support their cause.
Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance will not be setting a fundraising target or an amount the runner has to pledge to raise – the runner simply has to stay fit and healthy ready for the challenge.
Any money raised through sponsorship for the charity will be gratefully received, going towards the £4,000 per day it costs to keep the service in the air.
Tracy Bartram, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Communications Manager said: "We are really excited about being able to offer someone the chance of running the London Marathon on our behalf this year.
"We often hear of people doing incredible things to raise money for the Charity. From youngsters who donate their pocket money, to 70 year olds who take on a sky dive.
"Many ex-patients of ours have gone on to achieve incredible things. What better marathon ambassador than someone who has personally used our service.
She added: "One thing is for sure; we don't have much time. Let's hope that we receive lots of genuine applicants before the deadline."
To apply for the chance of running for these local lifesavers e-mail email@example.com or write to: 'I Want to Run', Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, Lan***** House, Chelston Business Park, Castle Road, Wellington, Somerset TA21 9JQ with your name, age, DOB, and in no more than 200 words: 'Why you believe you should be selected as the Charity's Marathon Champion."
The successful applicant will be announced on Wednesday 30th January 2013.
