100 Birthday cards for 100th Birthday

Mary Kennedy celebrates her 100th birthday with friends, family and Yarlington staff members
Mary Kennedy turned 100 her popularity was clear as she celebrated with friends
and family at not one but two celebration events and received as many cards as
first was a large family party held at her sons house and the second an
afternoon tea party organised by her friends and neighbours at Milbrook Gardens
in Castle Cary where she lives in one of Yarlington Housing Group's retirement
grew up in North London and has always been keen to take on a new challenge or
adventure. When she was 91, having never used a computer before, she signed up
for an IT course. Mary's tutor was so impressed with her work she entered her into
the Golden Learners Award and at a presentation evening in Taunton, Mary came second
worked at her father's bank in London until the age of 24 when she married. She
met her husband John at a 'rugger' dance she attended with two friends - it was
love at first sight and they were engaged within 3 weeks. The couple had one
child, Jane, before John was posted to Burma during the Second World War where
he spent the next 4 years. During this time Mary did not see him at all.
Luckily he returned safely to his family and Mary and John went on to have
another child, Simon. When they retired the couple moved to Somerset to enjoy
still uses her computer to do her banking, order wine online and email her
niece in South Carolina and friend in Canada. She also stays active by
completing a daily crossword and walking around the scheme block at Milbrook
Gardens each morning.
asked her secret to a long life and how she stayed looking so young Mary
chuckled 'I have a glass of red wine everyday' before concluding, 'I've been so,
so lucky, I've had bad times of course, but you can't focus on them - I just
live for the day.'
